Who we are

In 2023, the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, through the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures, launched a call for grants within the 'PERTE CHIP' program, part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. These grants promote training in microelectronics and semiconductors and foster R&D through collaboration between universities and industry. The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), with the support of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), launched the Chip UPC Chair, focused on Advanced Architectures and Photonic Systems, in collaboration with 13 technology companies.

Our mission

The main objective is to promote research, train, and attract new talent, in various cutting-edge technological areas.

In particular, our mission is to act as catalysts of a latent ecosystem of knowledge in the field of semiconductors, making it visible and sparking the interest of students, both at the university and pre-university levels.

Through this initiative, we are not only forging a new generation of bright professionals, but also consolidating this sector as a key element in the construction of the future of technology.
