Microcredential in Hardware Security

The Microcredential in Hardware Security in Embedded Systems , taught at ETSEIB – UPC from February 2, 2026, has successfully completed with 22 participants . This intensive training, 100% subsidized by the UPC Chip Chair thanks to the funding of the project of the Secretariat of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures and the European Union – NextGenerationEU, has allowed students to specialize in one of the most in-demand fields in the technology sector.

During the course, participants learned to identify physical vulnerabilities in embedded circuits and systems, apply security primitives such as TRNGs and PUFs , and design hardware countermeasures that ensure the security and reliability of electronic devices. The practical approach allowed students to work with open source tools and software directly on their laptops, developing real projects such as consumption correlation analysis.

The microcredential has been specially aimed at professionals and students of computer engineering, electronics and embedded systems interested in R&D, hardware verification, product security or specialized consulting, providing them with tools and knowledge to integrate good practices and hardware security standards into their projects.

Participants leave this edition with practical and advanced skills to face security challenges in IoT environments, cyber-physical systems and embedded platforms, consolidating the leadership of the UPC Chip Chair in specialized training in secure hardware.
